June 23rd through the 26th 2011 the 9th annual Corvettes at Lake Tahoe car show was held at the Montbleu Casino Resort in South Lake Tahoe. 140 cars were registered for the show.
On Thursday afternoon we offered a golf outing at South Lake Tahoe Golf Course. There were 12 participants and a good time was had by all.
This year on Friday and Saturday we offered a "Corvette Challenge" on a very realistic driving/racing simulator. Everyone raced against the clock and some very good times were turned in. The doubles challenge on Saturday had the driver blindfolded while his/her partner (wife, husband, friend)? gave directions. Lots of fun..... A big thanks to Lenny Angelo who provided the simulator and ran the events.
Friday afternoon our Hospitality Suite was opened. Good food, drink and music was available from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM in our event tent in the parking lot. A steady flow of show participants enjoyed the hospitality suite and lots of positive comments were received.
A slot tournament was also held Friday afternoon and many eager participants tried their hand at the one armed bandits.
On Saturday the 20th, Activities were ongoing all day. In the morning, our celebrity guest, Dave McClellan was available in the event tent to sign autographs, take pictures and tell some stories. Dave also wondered around visiting with the participants. During the morning the participants "Show & Shine" voting also took place.
At 3:00pm the Poker run commenced. The poker run took participants on a short tour of South Lake Tahoe.
In the afternoon drawings were held for the many items being raffled off by the Lake Tahoe Corvette Club. Over 50 prizes were up for grabs.
At 6pm the dining room was opened for the banquet. The bar was open and Corvette images and videos were presented throughout the cocktail hour and dinner. After dinner, our guest speaker, Dave McClellan told some stories of his illustrious career with General Motors. Mike McGovern drew the winner of the "Bondurant Raffle" and trophies were awarded for the participants Show and Shine and The celebrity pick. Select the "SHOW AWARDS" button to view the awards.
The Lake Tahoe Corvette Club Inc. is a non profit organization and the proceeds from our show are donated to local charities. We would like to thank all the show participants, our sponsors, vendors, and The Montbleu Casino Resort for another successful show. A special thank you to the sponsors and vendors who donated prizes for our raffle. A big thank you to Bob Bondurant for donating a 2 day Z06 experience at his driving school in Phoenix for our show again this year. While Bob and his wife Pat were unable to attend, Mike McGovern and John Prumatico from the Bondurant school brought a 2011 Corvette Grand Sport race car to the show.
